چکیده
BACKGROUND When the human population increases, so does need to explore a wider range of feedstocks and biomasses, such as cyanobacteria. However, deeper understanding growth patterns pigment production is required support selection most beneficial species conditions for industrial production. The (i.e., chlorophyll C-phycocyanin) three cyanobacterium were evaluated following three-fold aim. first goal was compare among commonly selected exploitation (Arthrospira platensis) two alternative (Anabaena cylindrica Nostoc muscorum). second analyzing in long-term. last involved comparing different methods (spectrophotometry fluorimetry) understand whether there an appropriate proxy biomass increase that can be used monitoring purposes. RESULTS All showed high longevity proved capable growing more than 100 days without any additional supplementation. maximum quantum yield PS II (Fv /Fm ) revealed their photosynthetic efficiency varied over time with clear decrease after 2 months. Pigment analysis heterogeneous pattern during periods all could only captured by parameter Fv /Fm, but present A. N. muscorum some stages culture period. CONCLUSION found best C-phycocyanin producer, peaking at defined within profile. © 2022 Authors. Microalgae as a source of high-value bioactive compounds.
Microalgae are one of the oldest microorganisms, that grow in various hostile environments, ranging from deserts to Antarctica. The microalgae sustain life in such harsh environments through generation of secondary metabolites. Microalgae biosynthesize a large number of diverse bioactive metabolites with activities on cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases. Here, we highlig...
متن کاملA review of sunscreens and moisturizers compounds drived from cyanobacteria
One of the most important functions of the skin is to protect against various stressors. Environmental stimuli such as UV and environmental pollution increase reactive oxygen species and cause wrinkles and skin aging. Skin aging is associated with decreased collagen production and decreased activity of enzymes involved in collagen structure. Moisturizing chemicals increase the skin's ability to...

Internet shopbots allow consumers to almost instantly compare prices and other characteristics from dozens of sellers via a single website. We estimate the magnitude of consumer search costs and benefits using data from a major shopbot for books. For the median consumer, the estimated benefit from simply scrolling down to search lower screens is $6.55. This amounts to about 60% of the observed ...
متن کاملExploring Bioactive Properties of Marine Cyanobacteria Isolated from the Portuguese Coast: High Potential as a Source of Anticancer Compounds
The oceans remain a major source of natural compounds with potential in pharmacology. In particular, during the last few decades, marine cyanobacteria have been in focus as producers of interesting bioactive compounds, especially for the treatment of cancer. In this study, the anticancer potential of extracts from twenty eight marine cyanobacteria strains, belonging to the underexplored picopla...
متن کاملAntifungal Compounds from Cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic prokaryotes found in a range of environments. They are infamous for the production of toxins, as well as bioactive compounds, which exhibit anticancer, antimicrobial and protease inhibition activities. Cyanobacteria produce a broad range of antifungals belonging to structural classes, such as peptides, polyketides and alkaloids. Here, we tested cyanobacteria fro...
